Worcester Loom Works

Teaming up to create a sustainable livability plan

Synopsis: The team, which included McCabe Enterprises, CRJA – IBI Group, and Woodard & Curran Engineers, created a successful plan to redevelop a 2.4-acre site in Worcester, Massachusetts, and a sustainability and connectivity plan for the balance of the Crompton & Knowles Loom Works area.

Detailed Description: The Grand Loom Works Livability Project is focused on devising an economically viable plan to redevelop a 2.4-acre site at 95 Grand St. in Worcester, Massachusetts, and a sustainability and connectivity plan for the balance of the vicinity of the Crompton & Knowles Loom Works, once the world’s largest loom equipment producer. The 95 Grand St. site had been vacant for 15 years; the city demolished the building in 2011 for redevelopment. The project has been funded through a Sustainable Communities Challenge Planning Grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
